The Navigation has been on this site since the 1700’s, although the current building dates from around 1850.
She is a grand old lady of the industrial revolution, who has watched over Castle Lock for over 170 years.
In October 2020 we (David and Jeanette Hill) came back to our Nottingham roots, after a 20 years “ up north”
We both know and love the Navigation, having spent much of our missspent youth in this and other local pubs.
We want to keep the Navigation as a real pub in the heart of the city, serving the local community and ensuring that this grand old lady continues to bring a little bit of happiness (and beer) to everyone who steps through the door.
We have three guest real ales all local , these change on a daily basis. Offering something different for all real ale lovers.
Along side our cask line up we have Portland Shipyard Craft pale ale and lager.
We stock Estrella, Staropramen and Carling lager; Magners cider and of course Guinness.
We have a giant back bar which is stocked with a wonderful array of gin, vodka, malt whiskeys and tequila
We also have a professional coffee machine, so lattes and cappuccinos, teas and hot chocolate are always available.
Our food is cooked on site by our excellent kitchen trio. Ashley Sherrocks our head chef, Dan Wright our sous chef and Jane Moore our chef de partie
Ashley’s aim is to create a menu which stands out from the crowd providing much more than traditional pub food.
We use fresh seasonal produce which is sourced from local suppliers where-ever possible.
If you have any special dietary requests, or wish to discuss a special event please email, phone or pop in. One of our team will be happy to chat to you.
we always try our very best to make your trip to the Navigation that extra bit special.
The Navigation loves live music, we are looking forward to hosting a wide variety of music ranging from Jazz and Blues, to Rock and Roll and even a little bit of Folk.
Currently we host the Colin Staples Blues Jam, every Wednesday evening from 9pm. If you can play a mean blues tune please drop in and have a go.
Otherwise just turn up find a seat and chill out with some cracking tunes from excellent musicians.
We actively support the Canal and River Trust in helping to maintain and improve the wonderful Trent and Beeston Canal.
We hope to become a local hub for volunteers who have an interest in caring for the canal. Your interests could be in wildlife, maintenance of the locks, or just getting into the great outdoors for a bit of a tidy up and the opportunity of meeting new faces. Volunteering for the Canal and River Trust offers something for every one...
We have three TV’s all of which are positioned so that they will not spoil the atmosphere of the Navigation for trditional pub lovers, but will allow sports lovers to get an excellent view of their favorite match.
